Part I  Useful Sentences 惯用单句

1. 劳驾,服务员。Excuse me, please.

Oh, miss! 嘿,小姐!

 注:汉语男服务员对应单词waiter,女服务员对应waitress。但在美国waiter通常被当作一种专业的职业,因此我们叫服务生的时候,最好不要直呼“Waiter”。

2. 我们的食物还没来。We havent got our food yet. = Our food hasnt arrived yet.

3. 我没有点这个菜。I didnt order this. = This isnt what I wanted.

4. 这还是生的。This is raw.          

 raw [rɔː] adj. (食物)生的,未经加工的,原始的

 Its a little overdone. 有点老了。    

 overdone [ˌəʊvəˈdʌn]  adj. (食物)烧得太熟(或太久)的

5. 请再给我拿一个盘子好吗?Could I please have another plate?

  I need some napkins and toothpicks. 我需要一些餐巾纸和牙签。

  napkin [ˈnæpkɪn]  n. 餐巾纸     toothpick [ˈtuːθpɪk]   n. 牙签

  注:其他餐具还有:刀子(knife)、叉子(fork)、筷子(chopsticks)、酒杯(wineglass)、茶杯(cup)、碟子(saucer [ˈsɔːsə(r)])。

6. 好的。Yes, please.

 问:How about having some soup? 要不要喝些汤?

7. 它一点也不新鲜了。It isnt fresh at all.

  Its too salty and oily. 这又咸又油腻。  

 salty [ˈsɔːlti]   adj. 咸的   oily   adj. 油腻的

  注:除了酸甜咸辣之外,其他影响口感的情况:凉了(cold)、发苦(bitter)、肥腻(fatty)、有腥味的(fishy)。

8. 能给我一些芥末吗?May I have some mustard?

  Please add a little bit of salt into the soup. Its too plain.

 请在汤里放点盐,味道太淡了。

  mustard [ˈmʌstəd]  n. 芥末     plain [pleɪn]  adj. 清淡的,普通的

  注:就餐时还可能需要添加调味料(seasoning [ˈsiːznɪŋ , ˈsiːzənɪŋ])、胡椒(pepper)、醋(vinegar [ˈvɪnɪɡə(r)])、糖(sugar)、酱油(soy sauce [sɔɪ] [sɔːs])、黄油(butter)。

9. 我能再要点面包吗?Can I have some more bread?

 注:在有些西餐厅,面包吃完了还可以免费继续要。

10. 这非常可口。Its very delicious.

   问:Hows your meal? 您的饭菜怎么样?

   问:How do you like your meal? / What do you think of your meal?

您觉得饭菜怎么样?

   问:Did you enjoy your meal? 您进餐愉快吗?

 

Part II  Conversation 实用对话

Dining 用餐

Customer:

Excuse me. Our meals havent arrived yet. Do you think they will be much longer? We placed our order over 30 minutes ago.

Waitress:

Sorry for the delay. Your meals are coming out right now.

Customer:

Thank you.

Waitress:

Here is your meal. One fried fish fillet and one rack of lamb.

rack [ræk] n. 支架,架子;烤肉架

Customer:

There must be a mistake. We didnt order the fish.

Waitress:

Im sorry for the mix-up. Here is your lamb. Would you like some mustard?       mix-up  n. 混乱,差错

Customer:

Yes, please. And could we also have some napkins?

Waitress:

Certainly. Ill be right back. (After a while) Here are the napkins. How is your meal?

Customer:

Actually this lamb is too undercooked for me. Could you cook it a little bit longer so its not so pink?

undercooked  [ˌʌndəˈkʊkt] adj. 火候不足的,欠熟的

Waitress:

Sure. Ill take it straight back to the kitchen. My apologies.

顾客:

打搅一下,我们的菜还没上。您觉得还要更长时间吗?我们三十多分钟之前就点好菜了。

女服务员:

顾客:

这一定出错了,我们没有点鱼肉。

女服务员:

对不起,出错了。这是你们的羔羊肉,你们要点芥末吗?

顾客:

是的。我们能再要一些餐巾纸吗?

女服务员:

当然能。(过了一会)这是您要的餐巾。您的饭菜怎么样?

顾客:

事实上这份羔羊肉对我来说太欠火候了。你们烹饪时间能再长一点吗?它还是粉红色的呢。

女服务员:

当然,我会把它马上送回到厨房,我很抱歉。
